Questions

If yours isn’t here, email Orders@gmkspecialtyfoods.shop or call (732) 904-1655. A person answers.

When does home delivery start?

It has. We’re running a small number of boxes a week on the routes we already drive, and holding the numbers down while we learn the routine. Order from the Home Delivery page; if a week is sold out, join the list and we’ll tell you when the next one opens.

Which towns do you deliver to?

The towns on our three weekly routes. The shore road from Atlantic Highlands down to Sea Girt on Wednesdays; Belmar inland through Wall and Howell to Freehold on Tuesdays and Fridays; and Long Beach Island up through Manahawkin to Toms River on Thursdays. Tell us your town and we will tell you your day.

How do you keep it cold?

Our own refrigerated trucks, with the temperature logged from our door to yours. It comes out of the cold van and into your hands — that’s the whole point of a distributor delivering it instead of a courier. We hand deliveries to you rather than leaving them on a step, because there’s no safe way to leave fresh cheese in the sun.

What if I’m not home?

Leave a cooler outside the door with an ice pack inside, somewhere out of direct sun. We’ll pack your order in, close it, and text you a photo. If there’s no cooler and nobody home we can’t leave fresh cheese on a step — we’ll bring it back cold and text you to arrange another day, first time at no charge.

How long can it sit in the cooler?

A few hours, not a whole afternoon. A cooler with a fresh ice pack holds temperature well past a normal workday in spring or autumn, less in August heat. Bring it in when you get home — once it’s in your cooler it’s in your hands.

Is there a minimum order?

No. The GMK Box is $50 and delivery is complimentary on your town’s scheduled day.

How long does fresh mozzarella last?

Eat it the day it arrives if you can — that’s the whole point of getting it from a truck instead of a shelf. Kept in its water in the fridge it’s good for several days, but it’s never better than day one.

Can restaurants and markets order from you now?

Yes — that’s our main business and it’s been running for years. Tell us what you need and we’ll come back with pricing and a delivery day.

Do you carry things that aren’t on the list?

Often. Sourcing is what a distributor does. If there’s something you want, ask — the worst case is we tell you we can’t get it.

Where does the mozzarella come from?

Lioni Latticini in Union, New Jersey, who have been making it since 1979. We pick it up ourselves rather than waiting on a freight line, which is why it reaches you the day it was pulled.

Do you ship outside New Jersey?

No. Fresh mozzarella doesn’t survive a parcel carrier, and we’d rather do one county properly than four badly.
